Technical Writer: 

Our well known client in the Cary area is looking for a Technical Writer to join their team!  The Technical Writer will be responsible for developing, gathering, and disseminating  technical information through the organization’ s communications channels. Drives the creation of instruction manuals, how-to guides, and other supporting documents to communicate complex and technical information more easily. 

Responsibilities of the Technical Writer: 
  • Work with Subject Matter Expert (SME) to create role specific work instructions and revise when necessary.
  • Determine the needs of end users of technical documentation.
  • Work with operations to make Work Instructions and Job Aids easier to use and thus need fewer instructions.
  • Organize and write supporting documents for systems.
  • Incorporate assets, such as photographs, diagrams, and charts that increase users’ understanding.
  • Standardize content across platforms and media.
  • Gather usability feedback from internal customers and teams.
  • Revise documents as necessary and proofread for grammar and spelling.
  • Work with internal teams to obtain an in-depth understanding of the processes and the documentation requirements.
  • Analyze existing and potential content, focusing on reuse and single-sourcing opportunities.
  • Produce high-quality documentation that meets applicable standards and is appropriate for its intended audience.

Requirements of the Technical Writer: 
  • Requires a bachelor' s degree in a related area and a minimum 2 years of relevant work experience as a technical writer.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong organizational skills including the ability to prioritize, work under pressure and meet deadlines and schedules.
  • Strong problem solver with the ability to present issues clearly and provide answers.
  • Highly motivated and committed to excellence with a positive attitude.
  • Ability to be flexible and work consistently in a dynamic and changing environment.
  • Proven working experience in technical writing of work instructions, process documents for complex systems (patient tracking computer systems, pharmacy systems and processes, Standard Operating Procedures, phone, etc.).
  • Ability to deliver high quality documentation paying attention to detail.
  • Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and make them easily understandable in text and pictures.
