Our client looking for a Senior Network Engineer to join its team in Ashburn, Virginia reporting to the Direct of Network Engineering. The Network Engineering team maintains not only the data center networks supporting those properties, but also the office networks supporting the teams that create them.  As a Senior Network Engineer the candidate will be expected to handle virtually any network related work that may occur inside of the organization, including but not limited to the list below:

 
  • Maintain/Upgrade/Troubleshoot networking equipment and operating systems including but not limited to:
    • Juniper’ s JunOS on EX, QFX, MX, and SRX platforms.
    • Aruba’ s AOS & Airwave on 3200 and 7000 series controllers.
    • Citrix’ s Netscaler on 7500-12500 series hardware.
    • Pulse Secure VPN.
    • FortiNet FortiGate Firewalls.
  • Possess expert level knowledge in BGP, OSPF, ISIS, VRRP, ARP, ND, IPv4, IPv6, Multicast, and Spanning Tree.
  • Translating business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Manage projects to upgrade, enhance and maintain the network.
  • Insure network compliance with IT Security policies.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve network outages, including participation in an on-call rotation.
  • Administer/Configure/Maintain Linux servers running typical Network related applications like syslog and smokeping.
  • Administer/Configure/Use monitoring and reporting tools such as:
    • SolarWinds
    • PathSolutions
  • Develop documentation for other team members as well as for internal customers of the network.
    • Proficiency with Word, Excel, and Visio.
    • Proficiency with Confluence, JIRA, Gliffy.
  • Work with automation teams to develop workflows, scripts, and API’ s to allow the automation of systems provisioning including all network elements.
  • Work with vendors to understand product road maps, end of lifecycle, and best practices information.
  • Mentor/Develop junior team members.

 
  • Expert level knowledge of JunOS configuration, maintenance, and Juniper hardware.
  • Expert level knowledge of layer 2 Ethernet switching, including VLANs, Spanning Tree, 802.1q Trunks, ARP, IGMP, LACP.
  • Expert level knowledge of layer 3 IP Routing, including subnetting, OSPF, ISIS, BGP, VRRP.
  • Experience with essential network protocols, including DHCP, NTP, DNS; including the ability to explain their operation to technical staff in other groups.
  • A deep understanding of security, including IDS/IPS, ACLs, LAN and Wireless station security, 802.1x, and SSL.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills, able to explain network concepts to both fellow technical staff in detail, and to non-technical staff at an appropriate level.
  • Some experience configuring network elements by script or configuration management software.

 

 
Job Requirements
 
  • Experience with VMWare or other virtualization technologies.
  • Experience writing software and/or using software development tools to manage network devices.
  • The ability to proficiently use Linux, Windows and OS X to the point of being able to troubleshoot common network issues.
  • Experience with the analysis of packet captures.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory.
  • Network related certifications, particularly Juniper or FortiNet related.
